Piscitello Law Celebrates Community Bike Works & their 10th year of the CBW Mileage Challenge!

At Piscitello Law, supporting the cycling community means more than advocating for cyclists after a crash. It also means investing in organizations that use bicycles to create stronger, healthier communities.

That’s why we are proud to shine a light on Community Bike Works, a Lehigh Valley nonprofit serving young people in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. This year marked an exciting milestone for the organization: the completion of its 10th Annual Mileage Challenge, its largest annual fundraiser.

What Is Community Bike Works?

Community Bike Works is a nonprofit organization with a mission to teach life lessons through bicycles to young people throughout the Lehigh Valley who can benefit most. Its programs combine cycling, bicycle mechanics, mentoring, leadership development, healthy living, and educational opportunities. CBW started back in 1994 and has been going strong for 32 years.

Through programs such as Earn a Bike and Junior Earn a Bike, students work alongside adult and peer mentors while developing practical skills and building meaningful relationships. Community Bike Works has grown into a regional organization engaging approximately 600 young people each year through cycling, mentoring, and leadership programs.

What Is the Community Bike Works Mileage Challenge?

The Community Bike Works Mileage Challenge brings individuals, businesses, friends, and neighbors together to get active while raising money for local youth.

The 2026 event celebrated its 10th anniversary and ran from September 23 through October 13. Teams of up to 10 participants logged miles by biking, walking, running, or spinning while competing to raise funds and accumulate miles. This year's fundraising goal was $150,000 which they met after clocking in 22,488 total miles by 36 teams and 14 sponsors.

Funds raised in this event directly support CBWs' youth programs, including its flagship Earn a Bike program and other bicycle mentoring initiatives. For perspective, $1,200 can cover the cost of two students participating in Earn a Bike.

These programs give young people opportunities to learn bicycle mechanics, practice healthy living, develop life and STEM skills, build relationships with mentors, and become leaders within their communities.

Why Piscitello Law Supports Community Bike Works

Staying connected to the Lehigh Valley region is important to Attorney Joe Piscitello as his family ancestors settled in the Easton, Pennsylvania after leaving Sicily, Italy. Joe started his own cycling career while growing up in Easton and knows first-hand how powerful a bicycle can be for a young student athlete.

The firm first partnered with CBW to support the 2024 National Youth Bike Summit, helping fund youth scholarships and educational opportunities focused on bicycle safety, advocacy, and leadership. Piscitello Law’s relationship with Community Bike Works reflects a deep commitment to support cycling youth development, bicycle safety, and stronger communities throughout Pennsylvania.

Congrats to Community Bike Works on your impactful work of bringing Lehigh Valley together to mentor the next generation of cyclists and community leaders.
