Professional Triathlete Samantha Snukis

Meet Samantha Snukis. She has spent much of the last decade pursuing two passions and professions: she is an orthopedic Physician Assistant as well as an accomplished professional triathlete. She works at Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster and does a combination of surgery, ortho trauma/hospital and ortho urgent care.
Sam received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wagner College in Staten Island and went on to earn her master’s in microbiology. She then earned a second master’s degree in physician assistant studies from New York Institute of Technology. Samantha is particularly adept at working with her athletic patients since she has suffered many injuries herself and can relate to the struggles of pain and rehabilitation. In an interview with her alma mater, NY Institute of Technology, she shared that…
“Physically treating someone and getting someone better is one part. If they want to get back to sports, that’s the other part, so I can relate and can meet them in the middle.”

Her athletic career began in high school when she was state champ hurdler; she continued in college running the 800 and was NEC champion. In 2018 she competed at the California International Marathon, an Olympic Trials Qualifier. Samantha competed as an All-American in numerous marathons, Ironmans, and many other races (national and international). Some of her accomplishments include a personal best 2:44 as well as a 1st place finish at Ironman 70.3 Lake Placid 2018.
In 2022, she suffered an injury to her Achilles and as a result, she dedicated months to recovery, but still managed to compete in an 8 mile swim (marathon). 2023 race results: Red Rose 5 miler champion (Lancaster, PA) and 3 top 10 70.3 results including 4th place professional Maine 70.3. Her first race in 2024 will be the 70.3 Mont Tremblant and her goal race is the full Ironman in Lake Placid.
