Little Bellas
Back in 2019, Piscitello Law had a chance to listen to Caitlin Thompson talk about her work with Little Bellas, and we were hooked!
Philly pro-cyclist Thompson founded the Philadelphia Chapter of Little Bellas in 2016. The Little Bella organization was started in 2007 when several competitive female cyclists decided to do something about the lack of female athletes in the sport. They created Little Bellas with a mission to help young women realize their potential through cycling. The organization creates a local community focused on positive energy, healthy life styles and goal setting with young girls aged 7-13 in mind. Currently, there are Little Bella chapters around the country.
In 2016, the Little Bellas Philly chapter had 22 young athletes. The team has grown considerably by 2022, as they currently have 80 girls. The team runs two five week sessions in the Spring and Summer. Some of their athletes have been with the chapter since the beginning and have grown into junior mentors and learn leadership skills.
We love to see #moregirlsonbikes and are thrilled to learn how transformative this program has been to so many young female athletes. For more info on Little Bella’s please click here: https://littlebellas.com/
