Philadelphia Cycling Classic 2026: Celebrating the Return of a Philadelphia Icon

The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is returning to the city on August 29–30, 2026, restoring one of Philadelphia’s most recognizable and beloved sporting traditions. For more than forty years, “The Bike Race” has been a defining part of the region’s cycling identity — a race that blends world‑class competition with the unmistakable energy of Philadelphia’s streets, neighborhoods, and cycling community.
After a decade away, the event is being revived by Race Street Partners, a new ownership group led by former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Eric Robbins, and Carlos Rogers. Their vision brings back not only the race itself, but the community spirit that has always made the Cycling Classic special.
This year’s event is presented by AmeriGas and broadcast locally by 6abc, with an anticipated 100,000 spectators expected to attend the race and the two‑day Fan Fest.
A Premier International Field Returns to Philadelphia
The 2026 Philadelphia Cycling Classic features one of the strongest professional rosters ever assembled for the event. Both the men’s and women’s races will take place on the same day and on the same 14.4‑mile circuit — including the iconic 17%‑grade climb that has challenged riders for decades.
Women’s Teams
The women’s field includes top UCI WorldTour and elite programs such as:
- CANYON//SRAM (GER)
- EF Education–Oatly (USA)
- Human Powered Health (USA)
- Vini Fantini – BePink (ITA)
They are joined by a diverse group of elite and continental teams from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, China, and the U.K., including Fearless Femme p/b The Beasley Firm, Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24, Cyclery Racing – Abacus Data, and Milton Revolution Women’s U23 Project.
Men’s Teams
The men’s race brings together powerhouse WorldTour and ProTour teams such as:

- Lidl–Trek (GER)
- Lotto–Intermarché (BEL)
- Team JAYCO AlUla (AUS)
- Bardiani–CSF 7 Saber (ITA)

They will line up alongside leading UCI Continental programs including L39ION of Los Angeles, Project Echelon Racing, Team Novo Nordisk, and Nu Colombia.
Together, these teams represent a global field of athletes competing for $75,000 in prize money — reinforcing Philadelphia’s place on the international cycling calendar.
A Weekend Built for Riders and Fans
Race weekend offers opportunities for cyclists of all levels:
- Amateur Time Trials on Saturday along MLK Drive, hosted by Guy’s Racing Club
- The Philadelphia Cycling Classic Charity Ride benefiting the American Association for Cancer Research
- Fan Fest at Eakins Oval, featuring food, drinks, family activities, live entertainment, and community programming
