Webinar for Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling

Focus of this talk was not only how to stay safe while riding on the road, but also how to manage interactions with the police while on a bike. Many BCYC students have been stopped while riding on the streets of Philadelphia. Piscitello Law, BCYC and the Bicycle Coalition teamed up to create bike equipment id cards that verify the student athlete’s possession of the bike. We also suggested that the students register their bikes with local police department as well as to carry Attorney Joe Piscitello’s business card. Hopefully these proactive steps will minimize conflicts between student athletes and the Philadelphia Police Department in the future.
Bicycle Coaltion Youth Cycling
This unique youth cycling program has been a part of the Philadelphia landscape for more than a decade. It formerly was a team started by the Cadence Multisport Bike Shop in Manayunk. The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia took over this youth cycling program in 2013 and it has grown ever since. Student athletes in the BCYC program pursue academic, personal and athletic goals that are enriched through their involvement in this urban program.
