Harrisburg Bicycle Club

On a beautiful day in June 2022, the Piscitello Law team was all set up at the Hummelstown Criterium to enjoy a day of racing, food, and community. We loved meeting many new cycling friends that day, including Susan Tussey. Susan was standing at the Harrisburg Bicycle Club (HBC) booth, and we started to talk about cycling and road safety. As the conversation progressed, Susan asked if we would be willing to present to her bike club to discuss bike laws and how to ride safely. As the former president of the Harrisburg Bicycle Club, she knew that this topic was of great interest to the members.
We made plans to meet the HBC in March of 2023. Our presentation was well received and in the weeks after our bike law talk, we received calls from many HBC members asking Joe to review their auto policies. That is the type of proactive follow-up that we hope to inspire from these talks; making sure that fellow cyclists have proper auto coverage.
Prior to our presentation, Richard Norford presented on Smart Cycling which is the course that is offered by the League of American Bicyclists. Dick is a registered League Certified Instructor and did a great job previewing the four-part training seminar. In fact, after our presentation, Dick asked if he could use some of our slides to further illustrate some common bike vs. car crash scenarios. Happy to share 😊 when it comes to advocacy!
Overall, we had a super productive meeting with the folks at Harrisburg Bicycle Club. Thank you to club president Glenn Wareham and to Susan Tussey for inviting us.
